about us

It all started way back in 1970, when Shriram Bhave, a zealous and enthusiastic food lover and an expert cook forayed into the restaurant business by managing/establishing Aniket Vidyarthi Kendra (University of Pune). He started with a very small investment, due to lack of access to capital and absence of family backing. It was entirely on his own that he began, and stuck it out with grit and passion. His brother in law and close friend Ravindra Athawale joined as a formal business partner after helping informally in the beginning.

Together, they then set up and operated their own units –

  • Wadeshwar Bhuvan, Bajirao Road – very well known for its small menu yet consistent quality food
  • Mukta, Tilak Road, - a small yet up beat café serving South Indian food. Coffee at Muktawas something not-to-be-missed!
MTDC Canteen (Venna Restaurant), Mahabaleshwar was managed by the Wadeshwar Group for a couple of years and it was the most appreciated restaurant in MTDC history!

In addition, they also launched their own catering business - Kalpak Caterers which caters to parties, weddings and functions. They built a respectable reputation for themselves and their restaurants, very well known for the taste, hygiene, innovative menus, excellent service and last but not the least, quality.

Anew venture with Prasanna Travels - Smile Stone-a highway restaurant spread across nearly 11 acres of land on the highway connecting Pune to Ahmednagar, Aurangabad and Indore was established in the year 1998.

Enter Swanand, Mr. Bhave’s son. Swanand learned the ropes of the business through on the job training with an independent responsibility entrusted upon him in the University of Pune canteen (Aniket VIdyarthi Kendra) in the early nineties. He brought in a fresh air of ideas to the business and slowly and steadily set up new ventures.

In the year 2000, Krishna Dining Hall offering authentic Maharashtrian Thali was launched on Law College Road, Pune. Wadeshwar, Fergusson College Road was founded in 2002, and was an instant hit among the youngsters frequenting this up-market area. Once this was established and running, there was no looking back for Swanand. In the span of the last 3 years, he has opened up 3 more branches of Wādeshwar in Pune, located at Market Yard, Law College Road and Kalyani Nagar.

In 2016 - Wadeshwar has started two additional branches at AUNDH & BANER.
